British-Nigerian artist Skepta is now a household name thanks to his decades of work in the UK grime and hip-hop scene. Now with more global influence on the genre than ever, Skepta has partnered with Nike Sportswear to bring his own journey of shoe collecting to life through a unique collaboration with the Nike Air Max 97 Ultra for the model’s 20th anniversary celebration.
Using inspiration from Skepta’s home of Morocco and the palette of the 1999 Air Tuned Max – which was the first shoe he ever saved up money to buy. The upper of the Nike Air Max 97 Sk has iridescent, polyutherane-coated, Copper/Rose Gold leather paired with black sandwich mesh and an HF weld of the Swoosh logo (instead of an embroidered Swoosh). As a reference to Skepta’s love for the late 90s Nike design, the insole also features a signature “Sk” logo, in the style of the Tuned Air logo.
